Ktululady Posted January 11, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 11, 2017 We would like to go to the old town part of Bilbao, but my mother uses a wheelchair. She can walk short distances so she could get out of the wheelchair if necessary. I know there are cobblestones there, but I don't know how bad it is. Would it be too much for us? LondonTowner Posted January 12, 2017 #2 Share Posted January 12, 2017 There are cobble stones in the old part, but in the majority of Bilbao they have normal pavements. In general Spain is disabled friendly. Taxis are relatively cheap and you should be able to use the local bus OK.

Thanks for your reply, looking at the photos there seems to be cobbles in the middle and flat pavement on the sides on a lot of the photos, would we be able to get around on the flat parts? LondonTowner Posted January 12, 2017 #4 Share Posted January 12, 2017 I think you will be OK. We go to Spain fairly often and usually manage. I take a manual wheelchair or mobility scooter. Local people are normally very helpful. I had a bit of a rough ride on the cobbles in Córdoba, but still managed.
