Coravel Posted July 3, 2015 #26 Share Posted July 3, 2015 So you now don't know which year it was? Yet you are now reduced to shouting at me?
Canugess Posted July 3, 2015 #27 Share Posted July 3, 2015 If you choose to go; be scrupulous about washing your hands with soap and water, especially before meals and after using the bathrooms. (I would be inclined to confine myself to only using your cabin bathroom) Use antibac gel as an extra once you have hand washed if you wish. Do not use it instead of hand washing. It only gets rid of Bacterium not Virus'. Enjoy your holiday. I would still go. In fact I went on a Dancing Holiday earlier in the year at a resort that had had an out break. They were very good in the restaurant ensuring that nothing was self serve (It was a pain but we understood why) and there was loads of hand wash around for when you came off of the dance floor. As you will understand, dancing with multiple partners could potentially be quite a risk. However, no one to my knowledge got ill. We all used the prescribed precautions and if they are followed correctly there should be no problems.
Coravel Posted July 3, 2015 #28 Share Posted July 3, 2015 Someone offered good advice about using your own pen and not touching lift buttons. But I take your point about dancing because we are always on the dance floor. Fortunately we only enjoy ballroom and Latin American where you stick to your own partner. :)
cruisevirgin1971 Posted July 3, 2015 Author #29 Share Posted July 3, 2015 I am sorry if you feel that I am attacking you but you need to stop making these wild fabrications. Whatever year it was the Balmoral sailed from New York to Canada and hone to the UK via Cobh and missed three ports in Canada BECAUSE OF THE WEATHER. Hi, are you a Fred Olsen employee? Or a relative of one? You seem to be a bit too informed and too keen on defending Fred Olsen in a very "offical" sounding way.....
tiggertom Posted July 4, 2015 #30 Share Posted July 4, 2015 Hi, are you a Fred Olsen employee? Or a relative of one? You seem to be a bit too informed and too keen on defending Fred Olsen in a very "offical" sounding way..... All I want is to know that that the information in this forum is fact or opinion. Surely that is what you also want? When I see fiction and incorrect information I have to question it. I was on the cruise that missed three ports because of the weather. For someone to say it was because of norovirus is incorrect and that has to be pointed out. Wouldn't mind working for Fred Olsen though...., if they are looking in:D
Coravel Posted July 4, 2015 #31 Share Posted July 4, 2015 The cruise I went on sailed to Newfoundland and Nova Scotia and then to Boston and New York. Norovirus broke out on the voyage over the Atlantic resulting in us being barred from a number of ports. You were clearly not on the same cruise as us. But I have taken no offence at your comments and wish you well in your future cruising.

But I take your point about dancing because we are always on the dance floor. Fortunately we only enjoy ballroom and Latin American where you stick to your own partner. :) On the cruise we were on where Norovirus was prevalent, the ladies who danced with the dance hosts had to use the anti-bac gel after every dance, the casino was closed indefinitely and anyone playing deck quoits, shuffle-board, bridge or whist had to wear disposable gloves. We did the quizzes and anyone who used FO pencils had to dispose of them after one use and it was the same sort of thing with the bingo. We were also offered anti-bac wipes for the sun-beds. This is fact and I haven't even mentioned the preventative measures put into place in the Garden Room / MDR.
Coravel Posted July 4, 2015 #33 Share Posted July 4, 2015 They also cancel self service facilities at the restaurants. You still queue up but the waiters actually serve you.
