Headed to St. Thomas tomorrow - need help with excursion

Recommended Posts

We're on Allure and will be in St. Thomas tomorrow 10:30-6. We had thought about making this a ship day so I didn't make plans - but due to bad weather - we've had plenty of ship time so far and I really want to explore *and* see a nice beach.

Will be there with kids 9 and 7. Want the cleanest, clear blue water we can find - for a relaxing beach day.

I've read about Coki (sounds a bit busy), Magen's Bay (likely to be crowded), Emerald Beach ?, Sapphire Beach and / or St. John.

Would it be easy for us to get off the ship and get a ferry to St. John?

What do you recommend? I usually have everything planned so this is tough for me. Thanks for any advice!

Emerald is the easiest option from Crown Bay dock. Maximum beach time and all amenities. May be more crowded if weather prevented prior beach stops but beach has some room to spread out if you're flexible or don't need chairs.

Not a snorkeling beach but kids seem to be happy just being in the sand and water.
