New Orleans Hotel Opinions please

I will be staying in New Orleans for a few days prior to my cruise. I am trying to choose between the Country Inn and Suites and the Quality Inn and Suites, both in/near the French Quarter They are both highly rated by Trip Advisor. I am traveling with my kids. Does anyone have input/advice/opinions on location,safety, quality etc. The Quality Inn is a little less expensive.

I prefer the Riverwalk Hilton, Marriott on Canal St, and there has been numerous good reviews of the Drury Inn, on the New Orleans Port of Call thread. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=21

I am actually staying at the Drury in 2 weeks for the prenight and parking.:D You actually asked about the Quality Inn or the Country Inn & Suites though and I personally prefer a Country Inn and Suites whenever available, it got the top rating on Trip Advisor. The Drury was right under it I think, and it had the Cruisn NOLA package for pre and post nights should you need anything like that.

We were at the Drury Inn before the Dec 21st/08 NCL Spirit cruise. Excellent hotel and value - IMHO!
