Beach Clubs?

Are there any good beach clubs in Playa Del Carmen? We are sailing on the Elation in March and our first port is Calica. We dont want to pre-book anything, just want to find a beach club to hang out at for a bit! I have read that 5th ave is the place to go? Could we shop and then wander down to the beach and find a bar/restaurant on the beach to lounge at? Thanks for your help!

We saw many resorts while driving south but not really beaches. Others told us you may need to go to Playa de Carmen (15 minutes away) to get to the large public beaches...

We heard a lot about a beach club by the name of Mamita's....it is in downtown Playa del Carmen...guess it is more for younger folks, lounge style...

There was a lot of advertisement about "Mamita Beach"...unfortunately we spent the time shopping on 5th AV and did not get there in time...but looks nice.

There are lots of differents bars/restaurants on the beach, and most of them have lounge chairs for your use if you get food/drinks there. I've been to Playa 5+ times, and our favorite place is Zenzi at the beach and 10th Street...great chairs (really fluffy beds on the ground), good food and NICE drinks, very good prices too! Mamita's is nice, but Zenzi's is our favorite!:)
