Many thanks for the responses, I hope the water situation is the same on Black Watch as it is on Braemar - looks as I need to pay for bottled water but can get "tap" water in different places on board.

The water supplied by Fred Olsen has always been of excellent quality and I have found it to be the same on every line I have sailed on except one. I know a former ships officer who agrees with me that the water is as I say. Last year I visited Seattle, Chicago and Alaska (where there was quite a lot of frozen water to be seen) and the water being purchased everywhere was Evian water bottled in France! The highlight was the directions on how to make coffee with the advice to use the bottle of water in our room, which was, again, Evian water in a very nice glass bottle cost $9. We survived the trip drinking tap water. Good marketing by the French.
