dear chaps and chapesses

how gay friendly is p&o - planning a cruise on Azura and if; IF there is a meet and greet and if, IF we decide to go will they hide us away in a discreet corner as we experienced once on PRincess (which made us feel like we were a dirty secret) or is it more open as we experienced on Cunard. thankyou, any views appreciated.

Hi PC - I've never known there to be a meet and greet, FOD meeting, GLBT gathering (call it what you will) on a P&O ship, though I think I have read of the occasional one.

As to their general gay friendliness, we have never noticed anything specifically directed towards our orientation - we have just found the crew generally miserable and unfriendly!

We're just back from a cruise on Aurora. There was one GLBT gathering while we were onboard. It was held in the Crows Nest but wasn't attended by anyone but ourselves :(

I found the crew on Aurora to be very gay friendly.

Hi GlasgowGuy, we are going on the Aurora Feb 2016, Brisbane to Southhampton.

We are just back from an Arcadia Singapore to Southhampton...again same as you, everyone very accepting and gay friendly, but no GLBT meetings organised at all...how can we get them thinking of us like other lines??

Once on board after a day or two ask a member of the entertainments team if there is a planned meeting, if not they will organise one for you and publish it in the onboard daily horizon newspaper. If no one has already requested this then it won't happen.

Hi There!

We were on Arcadia in 2014 for the Singapore to Dubai leg of the world cruise. There were no LGBT meetings of any sort. In fact, other than two members of the crew that we suspected (a member of the band and the dance instructor), there was no sign of any "LGBT Family" whatsoever. We recently sailed on QM2 from Cape Town to Southampton, again as part of a world cruise. There was a FOD meeting every day at 5.00pm and there were normally 12 -14 there every day (not always the same people). It was a mix of Brits, Americans, Australians and South Africans. There were plenty of others on board, but the Germans in particular avoided these get togethers. On our deck, two of the four cabins next to ours were occupied by gay male couples. We had a great trip and have now booked two separate transatlantic trips on QM2 for next year.

We have been on a number of P&O cruises Azura x 2, Aurora x 1 Oceana x1, booked on Oceana again in February 2016.

We have never had any issues on any of these ships, we always have a double/queen bed configuration no issues.

Most of the entertainment staff are 'family' anyway ha ha :)
