Head over to your cruise's roll call for more people going. They probably have some good suggestions based on what they are planning. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1624528

 

As far as other ideas, Native Choice runs some great Maya ruins excursions that are more immersion into Maya culture than just walking and looking at structures. Ships have good snorkeling excursions that go up to Uvero Beach.

 

But most cruisers just hang at the cruise port or grab a taxi and head for the local beach/boardwalk (malecon) and chill in a lounger at one of the clubs.

I would also look at the Ship excursions for some ideas, then search for private vendors on here and Tripadvisor to see if there are better rates.

 

We used Shark tours which is affiliated with Island Marketing. We went ATV'ing through the town and some of the roads.
