Tour Guides at Major Sites?

Could someone please tell me if there are tour guides available at Nelson's Dockyard or Fort Shirley...or are you on your own? I am thinking of taking the local bus instead of booking a private tour. I just want to be sure that we can still learn about the history.

 

If you have been there and can give me some input, that would be greatly appreciated.

 

Also, could you please tell me if it is easy to walk from Nelson's Dockyard to Fort Shirley and Pigeon Point? Thank you.
