Late departure dining question

So we leave on Sunday out of San Juan, PR. Departure time is schedule for 10pm. I think the "back on ship" time is 8:30, muster is 9:30, and sailaway is 10.

I understand that the first night on this cruise is "open dining." I assume that the MDR is open, but that there is no assigned time. Can you eat in any dining room? Or are you restricted to your assigned dining room?

If I'm not mistaken, while it is open seating, you are required to dine in your assigned dinning room if using the MDR. But I'm not 100% sure...
