Dublin Post Cruise Questions

Recommended Posts

The Dublin Tourist site might be a good place to start to get some ideas -

http://www.dublintourist.com/

There is a Hop On Hop Off bus that takes in all of the major tourist places -

http://www.dublintours.net/tours/tourDetail.cfm?tour_id=7192

Also the Dart (light rail transport system) circles Dublin Bay from Howth in the north to Bray in the south with various places to look around - Dun Laoghaire, Dalkey etc. -

I am sure you will get a lot of other replies with favourite places in Dublin to visit!

The best place to visit in Dublin is definitely Connolly Station from there take a train to Sligo. That way you'll get to see real Ireland. Dublin is over priced and over rated and basically is very much like any capital city.

We had fantastic dinner at Gallaghers ( Salmon melted in my mouth, steak boxty was really good!)This restaurant is not far from Temple Bar.

Winding Stair and Bentleys can highly recommend as well

My husband and I will be spending 2 days in Dublin after our Mediterranean cruise. I am looking for suggestions for restaurants and any amazing place not to be missed. Thank you for any suggestions!

Stay in Dublin for the 2 days!! you won't have time to see everything, save the countryside from connelly for a longer trip!

The Gaol is an amazing historical visit, there you will learn all about the 1916 rising for our independance. The Kikmainham Hospital just up the road towards is now an art galallery, and usually have great shows.

The Guinness Brewery and hopstore is a little furthur up, and you get a complimentary pint in the sky bar which gives you panoramic views of the city.

Accross the Liffey is Collins Barracks, now the fantastic national museum of ireland. lots of history, and its free!!!

It's probably best to walk to these, if you're staying in the city center, it's as quick to walk down the quays than sit on them in traffic, which is a nightmare!!

There's a lot of museums and gallerys in the city, don't miss grafton street for shopping, and St Stephens Green is worth a visit (it's a gorgeous little park at the top of grafton street, don't forget bread to feed the ducks!! everyone does it!!)

The DART is great for getting to places outside Dublin on the coast, north will take you to Howth, pretty fishing port, and south will take you as far as Greystones, in Co. Wicklow, not more than about an hour away.

Temple Bar, close to O'Connell Bridge, is where you'll find all the best bars and restaurants, and with this bloody recession we have, most places offer 5 euro cocktails and 4 euro pints till midnight!!!! Lot's of great hotels around the area aswell. don't miss a trip to Trinity College where you can see the Book of Kells. and ChristChurch cathederal has a great tour, all about them vikings!! there's also the viking adventure by road and water, which is a bus which floats somehow!! never done it, but supposed to be a great tour!

You'll probably want to stay longer, as Dublin really is the best city!!!

Enjoy whatever you do, and don't worry bout the rain!! sure it's only a bit of water!!!!
