Well, since is a Mother/Daughter cruise and she is 17 do know that most of the beach excursions are to Orient beach with is the french riviera of the caribbean meaning it is clothing optional beach. So if you are not offended by naked people of all ages, and I we mean all ages... It okay. The dutch side where the ships dock is tamer and you can catch the boat over to the beach area from there and lots of shops. Now if you want to experience a unique sight take a taxi to Maho Beach where the planes take off and land and watch people do crazy things like hold onto the fence while planes take off and get blown into the water. That is our plans for our next visit there. :D

Best tour or activity for a 17 year old daughter and mom in St. Martin? Trying to decide whether to do a beach day or take a tour (Bernards tours). We've done a catamaran/snorkeling trip in St. Martin 6 years ago so looking for something different this time.

Grand Case would make for a nice mother-daughter day. There are boutiques to shop in and lovely gourmet restaurants on the water with spectacular views and delicious food. Some offer free chairs and umbrellas for their customers to enjoy the beach per or post lunch. There is also a Perfumery that offers a make your own perfume class.

In St Martin, I took my DD & DW to a jewelers (Kays?) and had them pick out matching bracelets. Anyway they love them and still wear them with the cruise in mind.

We caught a taxi to Orient beach afterwards, when facing the water, head to your left to get further from the nudity.

If you decide on taking Bernard's tours, Tour 2 will give you close to 2 hours on Orient Beach, an hour in Marigot and anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half on Maho Beach. Marigot has a mall along the waterfront called West Indies Mall that your daughter may also like to spend some time shopping there.
