Ile de Re from La Rochelle

We just returned from a wine cruise on Celebrity that visited La Rochelle. We had planned on using public transportation to get to Ile de Re and since there was very little info on this, decided to post.

Celebrity dropped us off via free shuttle into city center. We walked to the train station. In front of the train station is the bus stop with signs posted and schedules shown. The cost to Ile de Re with return ticket was 5 euros. The price quoted for a taxi one way from where we docked was 45 euros. Public transportation is cheap, but the trade off is how loooonnngggg it took to get there - almost an hour. So factor that in - we had a lovely day on Ile de Re at St Martins. We had intended to bike ride, but time didn't permit. Another time perhaps:D
