Do you need the exact fare amount when you board buses in Denmark and Norway? Can you purchase bus tickets in advance for buses in these countries?

In Norway you can buy tickets from the driver. You don't need exact change but many won't accept 500-NOK bills. You can also buy tickets in advance in most places, but this depends on the city, so it helps to know where you're curious about.
