ClairetoCruise Posted August 31, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 31, 2014 (edited) Can somebody give me a list of cruise lines or cruise ships that have captions for the hearing impaired. We have not found a ship that captions shore excursions on television, all tv shows, ship movies, or captions for lecturers. An amplified headset for the theater does not work for us. Life boat instructions have not been captioned on the television. We have had little help from cruise lines regarding cabin accessories. Does Princess caption the Movies Under the Stars? Thank you, Claire Edited August 31, 2014 by ClairetoCruise
whiterose Posted September 1, 2014 #2 Share Posted September 1, 2014 Captioning for everything - my idea of heaven. Princess does not caption anything themselves. They do pass on a small percentage of TV programs that have been captioned. I complain on every cruise but nothing changes. Here's hoping that others have had better luck on different cruise lines. My dream is to have captions on movies, in room televisions, all televisions aboard, musters, and lectures. It would be bliss. The tour guides talk on and on from the same scripts but don't have words to paper for the hearing impaired to get more out of the tours. tsk. tsk. Thank you for your post Whiterose. dorisis Posted September 24, 2014 #4 Share Posted September 24, 2014 None of the cruise lines I have been on have captioning on anything. Nothing has helped me including hearing aids. And why do the bands play so LOUD that we can't understand the singers?
whiterose Posted September 24, 2014 #5 Share Posted September 24, 2014 Once in a while a tour guide is willing to share a copy of their script but most seem to guard them like gold. They don't want the other guides to get their hands on them. I've seem some posts about increasing use of technology on cruise ships, some really fancy expensive stuff. Yet passengers with hearing loss can't even get basic old fashioned technology (30 years+) like captioning. SPEAK UP EVERYBODY, LET'S MAKE IT HAPPEN FOR US.
