What to do near cruise port?

Yes the nicer beaches are on the other side of the island or toward the airport and a 20 min taxi from the port. Just an $8 taxi to Cane Garden Bay (busy) or quieter Brewers Bay.

Near the dock you'll find a brand new area with shops and taxis offering island tours at great rates. A short walk and you can walk by the marina, or in the other direction have lunch at Pusser's Pub and pick up some nice spices or rubs at Sunny Caribee. They have a neat Hangover Kit that makes a fun gift.

Unfortunately the area immediately near the cruise dock doesn't give you much of the flavor of Tortola. It's really worth taking a tour or perhaps going to a beach that sounds appealing.
