moveup Posted April 9, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 9, 2008 If you booked through a travel agent, call your travel agent. If you booked through MSC, call MSC. If no upgrade is currently available, it's always worth asking when you are checking in on the cruise whether there has been a last minute cancellation. However, on our Eastern Mediterranean cruise on the Orchestra last month, the ship was completely sold out. No one that we talked to had been upgraded, either for free (the "upgrade fairy") nor for a fee (the "upsell fairy"). Keep in mind that the cabins are all very similar. On the Orchestra, inside cabins measure 150 square feet (regardless of what deck they are on), outside cabins are 183 square feet (regardless of deck), while balcony cabins range in size from 164 square feet to 191 square feet (not as large as balcony cabins on some other cruise lines/ships). Suites are 269 square feet. The decor is the same regardless of cabin. We had the least expensive inside cabin on the ship and it was attractive and very functional. Unless you're upgrading from inside to outside, outside to balcony, or balcony to suite, there's no point.
