Polecat Posted October 6, 2014 #2 Share Posted October 6, 2014 We were on the Star Pride Monaco Grand Prix cruise this year, 2014. It was a wonderful trip and Windstar could not have done anything better. For the cocktail party and dinner at the Hotel de Paris many of us wore tuxedos, some wore dark suits, some wore sport coats and slacks, and then there were a few others that should have stayed on the ship. You are in Monaco for the Grand Prix having dinner at the Hotel de Paris for crying out loud. I am sure you would want to dress appropriately for that kind of function. barneyandbarbara Posted October 10, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted October 10, 2014 Thanks for the response, I have no problem with the dress , it's the husband wondering if he could pull off a dark suit or needed a tux . Barbara
Crusin Kelly Posted October 12, 2014 #4 Share Posted October 12, 2014 Barbara, if this is the only event/opportunity for your husband to wear a suit on your trip, then I propose that the only difference between a dark suit and a Tux are A) the white shirt with the silly collar(and bow tie) vs a shirt with regular collar(and long tie) and B) the shiny shoes vs the loafers. Both have a shirt/pants/jacket. Yes - a cumberbund, studs, and cufflinks also... but they dont take up any room in a suitcase. I agree the tux is less versitile, but I started with: If this is the only opportunity/event for dressing up. But what about the feeling of walking into the Casino, beautiful lady on his arm, all women's eyes turn (they can't resist), and he orders a martini - shaken, not stirred... ;)
Polecat Posted October 13, 2014 #5 Share Posted October 13, 2014 Hi Barbara, The tux is not required. A dark suit will be fine. I have the tux so I took it along. Going to the Monaco Grand Prix has been a bucket list item for us since before we got married 44 years ago, so I wanted to make it as special as possible.
