British Airways Business class seat formation...

We are traveling BA from PHL to Heathrow in 3 weeks and won't be able to choose our seats until 24 hour check-in. The seat formation is 8 seats across 2-4-2 with some facing forward and some back. If anyone has traveled in this type of formation would appreciate some input before we choose our seats. Seatguru only states that the back row might be reserved for those traveling with infants.

Thx.

First, seatguru is uselessly out of date for BA flights. Best to ignore it. You will get a better idea about seats from the BA Source. Your flight will probably be operated by one of these configurations; http://www.thebasource.com/seatmaps/b777-200er/14f48j40w124y.html or http://www.thebasource.com/seatmaps/b777-200er/14f48j40w124yoldwt.html or http://www.thebasource.com/seatmaps/b777-200er/12f48j32y127y.html - and for the purposes of the Club cabin it doesn't matter which.

My advice would be to try to get an AB or JK pair in the same row. These are best for a couple, as you face each other like sitting in a love seat. I find them better than the next best alternative, which is to get an EF pair in the same row, where you're both in middle seats next to each other.

The last row has the advantage that the window and middle seat passengers don't have to step over anyone else to get out. If you can get these, which you should be able to do when online check-in opens (if nobody has grabbed them already), then they are good for this reason. On this configuration, the main downside is that you're served last as the service goes from forward to aft in the cabin, and without higher-tier frequent flyer membership there's a higher chance of not getting your first choice of meal (if you care). (But if you find you're on a 777 with Club from rows 10-16 instead of 10-15, then avoid the last row because these seats are too close to the toilets on that configuration.)
