Free Atlantis

Hey everyone!

First, let me apologize ahead of time if this has previously been discussed. I'm sure Atlantis is mentioned ad nauseam on this board. My boyfriend and I will be on a cruise next week that will make a stop in Nassau on Friday from 8:00AM to 5:00PM. He's never been to Nassau and this will be my third time being there. He is set on visiting Atlantis, but neither of us have any interest in purchasing passes. He only wants to go so he can say he's been. I really have no desire to go there, because I feel that unless we buy tickets it'll be rather pointless. I will go if he still really wants to go.

So, in your opinions, do you think it'd be worth it for us to go without passes? Also, are there things to do around Atlantis? I'd hate to spend the money getting over there just for a five minute tour of Atlantis.

Thank you for your input.

There is a large casino. Odds aren't very good.

You can't really see any of the more unique and interesting parts of Atlantis without buying some kind of pass. You can visit the Coral Towers, which is a fairly ordinary tower hotel that was absorbed into the complex. There's some shopping in and around the Coral Towers; the usual designer boutiques you see at high-end shopping centers all over the world. And there's the casino. As soon as you approach the Royal Towers, which is where the interesting part of Atlantis begins, they'll want to see a wristband or the paperwork you need to get a wristband.

The Marina Village is an open-air shopping and restaurant plaza at the Marina next to the Atlantis Coral Towers which is free to visit, and you get a bit of view of the Atlantis Royal Towers from part of it. You can walk over to the Versailles Gardens and Cloisters (about 15 minutes walk down Paradise Island Drive) and most of that is open to the public.

So the free stuff isn't super interesting, but the cab ride is only $4/person, so it's not like it's a huge investment to get over there.

An aquarium pass would get you access to the Dig and the Royal Towers Lobby, plus the predator lagoons over by the Beach Tower, and all of those are very good. $42 worth? I couldn't say.
