Tropical Treasures/Latin Gems 19 January

Recommended Posts

We have looked at the excursions, and picked ones we might fancy and they would come to around £700. We are now wanting to know which of the ports we go to are easy to do something yourself that would not be too energetic for my husband with a walking stick. Good bars or beaches, parks, wildlife or botanicals would be of interest. I have found bits and bobs on here but trying to get a list together now to take with us.

Road Town BVI

St Barths.

St John's Antigua.

Roseau Dominica.

Kingstown St Vincent.

Bridgetown Barbados.

Oranjestad Aruba

Kralendijk Bonaire.

Willemstad Curacao.

St George's Grenada.

Cheers.

road town very easy to jump on a safari bus at the dock to cane garden beach for about $5pp arrange a time to return and they will come and pick you up

st barths ?? sorry

antigua, ship docks footsteps from town which has shops/bars/coffee shops a casino and free wifi also loads of taxis to the beach(s) available (too many beaches to mention all are white sand with crystal waters)

roseau, ship either docks in town or lays on a shuttle to town (if in the other berth) small town with a market/craft stalls a botanical garden, taxi tours into the rain forest/waterfalls available on the dock

barbados duty free shops in terminal and free wifi local tours available outside or at the tourist information desk inside the terminal, $5pp taxi to the beach boatyard beachclub (can get busy, loud music in the bar area) $15 entrance for sunbed, umbrella, rum punch & a ride back to the ship free beaches further on down the beach

aruba plentiful safari busses line up on the dock offering various tours of island or to beach, pretty nearby marina with cafes/bars/shops etc the interior of aruba very dry (cactussy) & hot, historic lighthouse on a rather rugged but stunning coastline...always windy in aruba

curacau ship docks close to town (pretty town in the dutch style with an historic swing footbridge) loads of shops/bars etc a pretty main square, a tourist petit train and a market plentiful taxis in town, nearest beach mambo/sea aquarium beach local bus to mambo $2pp, (taxi $20) entrance to sea aquarium/dolphins tanks for independents who make their own way there about $20pp

bonaire same as curacau plentiful taxis near dock offering island tours, also catamarans offering snorkelling trips, small town is close to dock…not much in town

grenada, ship docks close to town, pretty town with church and market, large cruise terminal/shopping mall, water taxi from dockside to grand anse beach about $5pp….morne rouge beach is more secluded but costs more as its further on

hope this helps
