driving Manhattan and Brooklyn

Our cruise leaves from Brooklyn on a Saturday. We plan to drive into Manhattan(from the Midwest), arriving around 11:00am, maybe earlier, on the Friday before the cruise and staying overnight in midtown. Then we will drive to the port in Brooklyn Saturday morning. It sounds like parking at the port will not be a problem? And I know traffic can be slow-going, but any other tips for driving? Or am I missing something that should be a concern?

Where is your hotel? Are you prepared to spend the $$$$ to pay for the 1 night of Manhattan parking?

Unfortunately, yes. Splurging for one night at the Midtown Hilton. We want an afternoon at MOMA if at all possible when we get into town.

If you don't mind the very high expense of staying in mid town and then parking there, OK, but do NOT use your car to drive around from site to site. Park it and then use public transportation to get you from place to place.
