Sarah&steve, I agree with tartanexile81.

There are lots of destinations where doing your own thing really works, especially if you do your homework before you travel to decide what it is you want to see and o. Hop on hop off bus tours are an excellent way to see most cities.

 

Save your money for the one or two trips where you really do want the insight of a local guide to explain the history etc. or for those trips where you can skip the queues to get in by being part of an organised group (like the Sergio familia in Barcelona).

We normally book cruises beforehand to ensure we have a place with the cruise company, there are popular trips that do get booked up quite quickly.

 

Having said that, we have found a company recommended by our travel agent which is independent to the cruise companys. Its called cruising excursions.com. We have looked at the prices and there are very good in comparsion. I would like to know if members on here have used this company before ?
