Bowie MeMe Posted July 17, 2013 #2 Share Posted July 17, 2013 We are interested in taking a cruise around the GRB. Not a day trip but stay on board for 4 or more days. Does anyone have recommendations. Thanks Ann Ann we went on a 4 day trip from Cairns and we went to the outer parts of the GBR on a boat that had a swim/dive deck, glass bottom boat, motor boat /tender type of boat. We snorkeled the GBR with a Marine Biologist and a Dive Master and always 2 water safety crews. The cabins are small but functional. The food was good if not fancy. Entertainment was not a factor -- so tired from the adventures of the day but the people we met (we were only Americans onboard and the Aussies showed us no mercy in their humor:D) had a wonderful time with these warmhearted and well traveled folk. The name of the company is Coral Princess (nothing to do with the big Princess Line) and I find the easiest way to find them is to GOOGLE the name of their ship that we are taking in New Zealand fiords. Google 'Oceanic Discoverer' and it will bring you to their site. Not a way to get to them through cruise agents etc. They are a small ship experience and for us -- more expensive than our usual cruise but so worth it for the experience. We liked them so well that we have booked a 9 day cruise in the fiords of New Zealand for Feb 2014 and are so excited. http://www.coralprincess.com.au is the web address. Good luck. Thanks Ann We did a cruise on Pacific Sunrise out of Airlie Beach. Enjoyed the crew and other passengers and food was pretty good. This is a sail boat and cabin space very small but OK. I can answer more questions if you are interested.
