runningaway2 Posted April 27, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 27, 2016 We will be in Bermuda for 3 days in June on the Summit. I'm an avid runner and would like to avoid the treadmill. Anyone know any tried and true running routes from the Dockyards area?
SailBadtheSinner Posted April 28, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 28, 2016 (edited) Don't know if this will help, but there is site called Bermuda Running Routes, but I could only find 2 that began or ended at the Dockyard. Check out pages 7 and 11. There are a few routes the begin or end at Somerset Village which is a few miles from the Dockyard. Found this at runnersworld.com, couldn't have but it better myself: The Bermuda visitor will notice that many roads are narrow, winding and have no shoulders or sidewalks, and that drivers drive on the “wrong” side of the road. All these factors make roadside running a potentially dangerous exercise. A much better option is the Bermuda Railway Trail, a 26-mile dirt and grass pathway that bisects the island west to east and serves foot traffic only. I would add that drivers have poor sight lines because of fences, shrubbery and even houses that come out to the side of the road. do a Google search on "running clubs Bermuda" for more information SBtS Edited April 28, 2016 by SailBadtheSinner speling
iheartbda Posted April 28, 2016 #3 Share Posted April 28, 2016 My husband used to be an avid runner and always opted for the treadmill because of the road conditions listed in the previous post.
