Windstar Panama Canal/Costa Rica Shore Excursions

Has anyone used any private operators for shore excursions on Windstar's Panama Canal and Costa Rica itinerary?

My husband and IO are on the December 13th 2014 sailing.

I'm just wondering if anyone can recommend options not offered by the cruise line.

Or if you have any other comments recommendations as this is our first Windstar cruise.

We used Coach Costa Rica for a tour of CR, including stop at coffee plantation, butterfly farm, wildlife rescue center, etc. We have used CCR twice, and been totally pleased. First trip, we just took a general tour. Second trip, we contacted CCR before our arrival and asked for specific places to stop, and they were totally accommodating/helpful. Very nice SUV, and drivers very knowledgeable and lots of fun. Both trips, we usede CCR for transport to ship docks, too. You can find them online.

We have used Sendero Panama for excursions in Panama. They picked us up at the ship, brought us to the canal exhibit, did a tour of Panama City with lunch and brought us to the Marriott in Panama City. Second day we did a wonderful wildlife tour.
