Snorkeling

We are looking to snorkel off shore at a beach, if possible, as opposed to an excursion. Not opposed to a local taking us if there are any suggestions. Anyone snorkel from a beach right off shore? If so, how did you get there and how much was it per person, round trip? There will be six of us. Any amenities there? i.e., just something to drink, maybe chairs, doesn't have to be fancy. Just looking for good snorkeling, as cheap as possible. will pay to go with someone if it's truly worth the money. Thanks in advance.

My understanding is that Antigua doesn't have much in the way of beach snorkeling. Something about the cloudiness of the water. I too was looking to snorkel off the beach there and that is what my "research" told me. I would be delighted to hear I am wrong.

I have been to Valley Church beach a few times and the water is a milky blue color, not good for snorkeling.:)
