3 hour stop at Prince Rupert-can we get off the boat?

We are looking into the Celebrity Mercury cruise from Seattle from August 25- Sept 1 of next year. There is a stop in Prince Rupert from 9 pm to midnight. Are we able to get off the boat, and if so what is there available to do for such a short time period? Won't it be dark at that time? Thanks very much for your advice!

Stay on the boat, you won't miss a thing. Especially at that time of day.

We've been informed by the Celebrity rep that they will not be disembarking passengers. They are only satisfying the Jones act which requires foreign flagged vessels to make at least one port call outside the U.S.

The one thing you could do in Prince Rupert is stay on deck and watch for eagles. On our cruise,PR had more bald eagles per square foot than any place in Alaska.

Exactly what SourDoughSteve said. It's a technical stop. If I remember correctly, the RCMP boarded the boat for formality. But no one is allowed to get off. Also consider the time, 9pm to midnight, I don't know if anyone will be spotting any eagles at that time.
