4774Papa Posted June 14, 2012 #1 Share Posted June 14, 2012 We are booked on Celebrity Infinity's TransAtlantic May 1-13 to Harwich, then an 11 day British Isles cruise. I have been researching tours from Harwich for May 13 and found nothing except walking tours of Harwich, which may be good. I would like to see Colchester and perhaps some of the countryside. I realize that there is a train to Colchester, but looking for a tour.
handfordr Posted June 14, 2012 #2 Share Posted June 14, 2012 Very few people staying at Harwich want to use it as a base to tour with the result there is no tour busineses, there are after all only about 3 worthwhile hotels, all smallish, in the whole area of Harwich You will have to take the train to Colchester and if you need a guide, pick-up one there from the tourist office. The other good trip from Harwich is to Manningtree, again by the local hourly train. There is a signposted walk up the scenic Stour Valley from the station to Flatford Bridge Visitor Centre. Its an idylic spot centred around the painter Constable with various tours.
