ATV in Kauai

I have been researching the ATV tours in Kauai and they are a little rich for our budget. Does anyone know if you can get to the same locations on your own with a jeep rental?

We own an ATV and I can't justify soending $300 (for 2 people) for a four hour ATV trip.
