Train Ride to Miraflores Locks

While I don't believe there are any knock down, full fledged fist fights, you would have to be ready move quickly to position yourself for the ''right'' side to see the brief glimpses of the Canal. Much of the route of the railroad is somewhat removed from the main body of the Canal, there are a few spots where the Canal is plainly visible, however. While it is possible to see the main channel of the Canal from a distance at some points of the trip, actual time your are near the Canal is probably less than 15 minutes total of the trip.

Since they provided the number of coaches based on the number of guests only about half of the seats are on the ''right'' side;)! Don't despair if you happen to get the ''wrong''... there is an observation platform on the coaches where you go stand to see whatever is of interest.

Depending on the direction of your trip on the train, the ''right'' side can be the wrong side:)!

PS: If the trip is Atlantic to Pacific... RIGHT side of the train, Pacific to Atlantic... LEFT side! Now everyone knows:eek:... fortunately not everyone reads Cruise Critic.

Actually, I think 15 minutes is quite alot;) and worth looking out for the right seats.

What observation platform do you mean (on the train??)

There is an open air area at one end of the coach that you can access.
