Beach and Botanas

I'm looking for cheap drinks, awesome botanas, island music and a beach where we can swim. Does a place like this exist in Progreso?

I do not know your price point for cheap beer. My personal favorite for beach drinking in Progreso is Eladios. I do not drink beer (gin and tonic is my poison), but I think domestic beers are about 40 pesos (less than $4 US). Eladios' botanas are very good. You can swim in the ocean, and Eladios has an outside shower. The music is Mexican pop, although there may be a DJ. I think they sell a cruise ship package for the Corona Beach Club. Eladios is at the end of Calle 78 where it meets the beach (malecon), about a three block walk from where the cruise ship shuttle drops you.

Well $4 isn't exactly cheap for a beer (even in the Midwest) but it's got everything else I'm looking for so Eladio's it is! Will it be warm enough in December to swim? Thanks!

DH and I were there last Dec and it was chilly with a Big wind

I had the same idea except for getting in the water and found it uncomfortable - not to mention Progresso is not Cozumel..... you are on the Gulf not the Caribbean!

Have you looked into the beach clubs, there are tours not offered thru the cruise lines and folks seem to enjoy those
