HappyValley3 Posted August 13, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 13, 2014 My husband just decided to take us on a birthday/anniversary cruise this October out of Baltimore on the GOS. His second cruise because he is not really in love with cruising. Never cruised with RCI so I have a few questions before I book. I know cabins are scarce booking this late so below are the options for a JS at this time. Canada/New England 8 day sailing Oct. 16 in JS 8038 Bermuda 6 day sailing Oct. 10 in JS 7654 My concern about Canada/NE cruise is choppy seas going north and being too cold to be on the balcony. And the Bermuda cruise is the cabin being aft. Motion and soot?:) Any advice and/or opinions will be appreciated. Thanks.
alligeek Posted August 13, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 13, 2014 Aft cabins are incredible, and Bermuda is amazing. We were in the room two doors down to the one you're looking at (7156) and loved it! There was a little soot, but not enough that it bothered us--we noticed it once and it was easily cleaned up. Didn't notice any more motion back there than we experienced anywhere else on the ship. My vote would be Bermuda in the aft cabin!
dancinman66 Posted August 13, 2014 #3 Share Posted August 13, 2014 One cabin is near the front and the other is right at the back Front will be more movement and the rear you will have a bit of vibration from prop cavitation on grandeur The rear cabin is under the spa so will be quiet but the front one is under pool deck and will be noisy from above Cold won't be so bad as you have balcony dividers that shield that a lot Enjoy Greg Sent from my iPhone using Forums
HappyValley3 Posted August 13, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted August 13, 2014 Thanks for the replies. I usually plan my cruises at least a year out and do lots of research. This short decision process is stressing as both directions are interesting adventures. :)

Did Canada/New England last year in Oct. although not on the Grandeur and left out of NY. Seas were not choppy and we hit glorious balcony weather the whole week. Friends the year before had cold rainy weather. We actually didn't need the warm clothes we took. One just never knows what the weather will be like.
