Beach info, please

So, here is our dilemma. We want lounge chairs, an umbrella and the ocean for our day on St. Martin. However, we want to see the planes at Maho Beach too. I've been reading and seeing some pictures that look like there isn't much sand left at Maho and we don't want to spend the day at a bar. Has anybody been there recently? Does anyone have any suggestions about a beach that is near by where we can rent chairs/umbrella for most of the day and then easily and quickly get over to Maho for a while?? We will be there in a few weeks and I'm trying to get our plans made.

Mullet Bay is in walking distance to Maho. The large jets arrive in the afternoon.
