Travel time from Hobby airport to Galveston?

Just curious if anyone knows a rough estimate of how long it actually takes to drive from Hobby airport to Galveston? I know traffic and other things can mess it up but anyone have a rough idea? Google says 54 mins but someone told me like 2 hrs which seems insane!

I live in Houston currently and I'm traveling from the north side of Houston on Sunday to Galveston (won't be much traffic). It's about a hr and 20 for me to get there. Hobby is not to far from Galveston. It really depends on the time you arrive and they day of the week. It can get a lil ridiculous.

We were on the Liberty of the Seas 2 weeks ago and flew into Hobby, it was a 45 minute ride to Galveston

We have done this about 6 times and it is almost always around 45 mins, except a couple of years ago there was a accident on the one bridge to the island and it took about 2 1/2 hours, we were not sailing till next day so we were fine
