Gasoline prices

I know prices are higher most places than in the US. Just curious about how much higher.

While in Bonaire last week (early April 2013) we asked that question. Prices were near six dollars a gallon! In fact, almost every island on our Southern Caribbean cruise had prices in that similar range from St Maartin, Antiqua, St Lucia, Barbados and so on. Gas on some islands is sold by the liter, not gallon, so you will have to do some mental gymnastcis to figure out the price per gallon.

Prices are around 6 dl, it is sold by the liter. We rent a suv for two weeks and fill up at the end for $50. Most cars are good on gas

We ended up spending $7 on gas for our rental as around $6/gallong. We drove up the coast and around by Rincon, then south as far as the red slave huts and back so it was less than I expected. Cars really take a beating!

Those of you who have rented recently, do you have a suggestion on which car company to use and how do you get to them from the cruise ship?
