May 28-June 2 Paradise Review Part Four (On Board Activities)

Recommended Posts

Karaoke: Very good everywhere. Superstars is where you sing on stage with the show band playing behind you. The hostess sang back up & tamborine. We heard some phenominal singers !

Bingo: I played once, unsuccessfully. Cards were 3 to a strip and $20 per strip. You used the same strip for how ever many games they were playing. Once it was half price. Door prizes were given according to the 'free space' number. The jackpots ranged from $100-1,000. They played regular bingo, blackout, and some others.

Casino: The slot machines take dollar bills but no change. The only way to cash out is with an account on your sign & sail card. I am not very good. I allocated $10....lost some and ended up ahead by $4.36. Remember to cash out with the cashier when you're done because otherwise it doesn't show up on your account. They only give you cash too. People seemed to win all over the first night and toward the end, not so much other times. The roulette table was VERY good to my husband and son.

Golf Putting Tournament

My husband won the "Ship on a Stick". I was so excited. He had no idea it was a big deal and almost gave it away to a kid. No no no. It started with about 25 people. This was scored in a specific way and wasn't the same as the Mini Golf.

Art Auction I only attended the finale. Everyone got free champagne. Everyone was suppose to get free art for attending, but I didn't. It started about a half hour late and quite honestly so boring I left in the middle. At least I can say I've been to an Art Auction.

Pools The Paradise doesn't have the waterworks upgrades. The pools are small. Chair hogs were out - I kindly moved their towels, and put them back when I was finished. I never saw anyone.

Comedy Club The comedians spoke briefly during the Welcome Aboard show and were hysterical ! They had a family friendly and Adult show most nights. My husband & son went to the adult show and said it was really good. The comedians were from Comedy Central. The content was definitely adult. I don't care for the raunchy stuff so avoided it.

Normadie Lounge Shows: We saw the 8 seconds Western show - our favorite- and Shout. All were good. The lady singer has a great voice ! I didn't find their costumes too risque like some had previously thought, swimsuits reveal more. The air conditioning in the Normandie Lounge was cool sometimes.

Spa I didn't see the fitness gym. It wasn't clear what parts of the spa could be used for free. They had flyers on their counter with daily specials. An example is "Pick 3 for $99"....I chose the Arm/hand massage, back, neck, & shoulders massage, and the ankle/foot massage for 50 minutes.

Club 02 is the teen club for ages 15-17. We pre registered at home and attended the orientation meeting the first night at 5:00. They're given a sticker to attend. No sticker, no entrance. Outside drinks/food cannot be brought in either. The director was Steve and he did a great job !Our daughter turned 15 during the cruise. I asked the main director if she could bump up to this age level and she said no problem. They had their own Funtimes schedule for day & evening activities like basketball, ping pong tournaments, dances, glow stick party, karaoke, pizza, movies, etc. We rarely saw our daughter. She made new friends and loved it. The last night, they autographed tshirts that Carnival provided and were given sling style backpacks. During the week, they were given non alcoholic daquiris, etc. too. This is a free service.

70's & 80's Dance party at the Rex Dance Club I was really looking forward to this. The first hour was early 70's stuff. I'm an 80's girl and didn't hear one single 80's song. We left after the first hour. It was from10:00-11:30.
