Marriott Newark Airport offering day rates

Not sure this has been mentioned already, but I saw this on their website.

Prices vary with date, but they are offering day rates from 7 am to 7 pm starting at $99. This is a great alternative for those getting off ships in Cape Liberty (or any New York port) and flying out of Newark on an evening flight.

I just tried to book a day room with the Newark A/P Marriott for October and was told no. It is only an on the day/walk in rate and then only if the hotel has the empty rooms to accommodate you. Was told I had to phone in on the day of arrival or maybe to try the night before to find out about availability.

This is not suitable for me so will try some other place.
