Off the Beaten Path Jeep Adventure review

Being a person who wants to see as much as possible in a short period, I chose to do the Off the Beaten Path Jeep Adventure, booked through Carnival. After standing in the hot, humid heat under a pavilion in GC for about 40 minutes, we were walked to the other side of the shopping area. There we boarded a van that took us to the jeep location, which is at the Beach Colony Club. From there we drove (I drove my jeep), to out to the point where the reef drops off, not too far from where stingray city is at. There our guide explained to us about the reef and how, not far from where we were, was some of the best scuba diving in the world. He also told us about when Hurricane Ivan hit GC, and 90% of the island was underwater. Then we drove through Barkers National Forest. This is home to the Mangrove trees, and is protected from by the Government. This is the only place on GC that is prohibited from development. Many animals were wiped out during Hurricane Ivan, but the mangroves are still home to Iguanas and fish that come there to lay their eggs to protect them from predators. From there we drove to Spanish Bay Reef All Inclusive Resort. There we had the opportunity to snorkel, swim in the pool, walk along the beach, or just lay back and relax. I chose to walk along the beach, pick up seashells, and take pictures. Then we got back in the jeeps and drove past the highest point on the island (a small tower), which is 60 feet about sea level. Then we made the trip to Hell. There we saw the rock formations, learned how Hell was named. Then I did a little shopping in the Hell store and mailed a post card from Hell. On the way back to BCC, we drove by the turtle farm (they waved to me) and the Tortuga Rum Factory. Once we arrived back at Beach Club Colony, we were escorted to the beach (7 Mile Beach) where we ate lunch of burgers, hot dogs, chicken and ribs, along with baked beans and juice. This is also the beach where Carnival, Princess and Royal Caribbean do their 7 Mile Beach excursions. After that, we were taken back to town in time to shop before we had to board the tenders back to the ship. Overall, it was a very good excursion. One word of warning though, if you do not want to stay at 7 Mile beach for lunch, tell the tour guide so you can arrange transportation back to town.
