Just returned off of Conquest!

Our family of 4, kids (2 & 4) just returned off the Conquest. Had a wonderful time. First Carnival Cruise, was a little hesitant about crusing w/Carnival, but was very happy! Been on Disney Wonder 2 times and Disney Magic 1. Enjoyed the kids club better on Carnival. The ship was wonderful, big, clean and beautiful! The Point dinner was very good. The only complaint I would have is our Dining room waiter was on her next to last cruise before quitting Carnival and her service wasn't the best. Dining room food just ok, but we enjoyed the dinner buffets on lido deck 3 evenings. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me!

Are the public areas still cold throughout the ship? You mentioned buffets on Lido deck, was this for dinner? If so, did they have a good variety? Wer're thinking about going to The Point and were wondering how good it is. We didn't go last year. We're leaving this Sunday on the Conquest.

Been on all three of the major with children 8-12. I look at it this way:

Princess - adult favorite, great service/food but the kids club was ok.

RCCL - Great kids club... lots to do.... food was bad and service ok.

Carnival - Food better then RCCL. Kids club great - love the large slide! For the price great value.

At this point it is easier for me to choose what the kids like best because if they are happy and busy I'm even happier. After they are older will have my time for Raddison, Holland America. .. but if the itinery and departing port is also real important.

lakelodge, it's hard to compare the Conquest with other cruises. It really depends on what you're looking for. If you are bringing kids or love to party, Carnival would be excellent. Princess and Celebrity are a notch above Carnival in service but may not have the party atmosphere some people would like. Overall, we prefer Princess but have never found a cruise we didn't like.

Public areas were a little chilly, but I'm always cold! Yes, they did have a dinner buffet every evening in the restaurant off of the Lido deck. To be honest, a couple of the nights we thought the food was MUCH better than in the dining room. Good selection of food there. The Point is worth every penny of the $25 dollars. We have also sailed on Disney and eaten at their version, PALO, and Carnival puts it to shame. I had the lobster bisque soup, spinach salad, lobster as an entree, flourless chocolate cake... it was very very good! Enjoy your cruise!
