Joanportia Posted September 19, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 19, 2006 Just wondering if anyone has been to the Rennaisance private island recently for the day??? Just want to firm up my plans for 10/15/06 sailing on the Destiny. This looks like a good option for Aruba.......... Joan Sail on......................... scott in maine Posted September 20, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 20, 2006 Just like Joan, I'd appreciate anyone who can give some recent advice on Renaissance Island. When I search the web, I get answers all over the place. Some say it's $50, others $60, one said $70 for the day. Some claim it's easy to get there, others say you must be a guest of the hotel, etc, etc. We had planned to simply make a day (or at least half a day) enjoying this place -- and we are VERY early on in the autumn cruise schedule, so I understand why there aren't lots of posts this time of year. Still, it would be very helpful to my group of six if anyone out there has recent experience with the Renaissance in AUA. We don't want to hike down there and all be told there's no way we can go out on the island if we're not guests. Thanks in advance.

I'll guess we'll be like "two ships that passed in the night," or at least, passed in the cruise terminal! Look for us. We'll be the ones with the sunburn and the purple luggage (LOL)! Bon Voyage! designmom Posted October 3, 2006 #5 Share Posted October 3, 2006 My DD(11) and I (mom) will be on the AOS in March 07 and would love more information about this as well. It sounds like the perfect day for the two of us. DD does not enjoy tours but loves the water and beach. Does anyone have recent information? SimonaD Posted October 4, 2006 #6 Share Posted October 4, 2006 Hi all, thought I'd share the reply I got from Marriott: Thank you for contacting Marriott Customer Care regarding the Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino. We appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns. We have researched your inquiry, and are happy to provide you with the following information: ---"Island Pass" tickets are available for $50 per person, and can only be purchased from the properties front desk, on the day of use. Island Pass tickets are only made available when the hotels occupancy is less than 90%. Unfortunately, at this time the hotel is completely sold out for the night you will be there. When in Aruba, you can call the front desk at 297-5-836000 to inquire if Island Pass tickets are available. There is always the possibility that reservation cancellations will reduce hotel occupancy to less than 90% ---The $50 cost includes one meal, one soft drink, and the use of non-motorized water activities (such as floats and water bicycles). Children under the age of 12 are admitted free, but are not provided with a meal. Meals for children under 12 would have to be purchased.
designmom Posted October 5, 2006 #7 Share Posted October 5, 2006 Thank you so much for the information from the Marriott. It seems like a great possiblity. Do you know how I could check before arrival to see if they are 90% full?

Arubalisa Posted October 6, 2006 #10 Share Posted October 6, 2006 Island Pass tickets are only made available when the hotels occupancy is less than 90%. This is terrific information. Thank you so much. I think this is why instinctively I had ruled out this option for our family. On New Year's Eve day, it would be fairly certain the hotel is going to sell out. Does sound like a wonderful day at the beach and you need only walk a short ways to get to the Renaissance. :(
