DawnWang Posted May 15, 2007 #1 Share Posted May 15, 2007 is this still possible if you do not speak spanish? There is 4 of us and it would be much cheaper to drive but since none of use speaks spanish I'm not sure if this will be okay or if we will just get hopelessly lost! Also if we reserve a car from executive do we pick up the car at the port or do we take the shuttle into Merida? I'm still a little confused from all the advice i've read. Would it be easier to try and rent a car the day we dock or is a reservation better? We are leaving on sunday and any advice would be great!! Thank you very much!!:)
hdawson Posted May 16, 2007 #2 Share Posted May 16, 2007 Reserving ahead is always best and pick up the car in Progreso.. Your lack of language skills should not be a problem. Roads are good and not conjested. Watch out for those humongous speed bumps when approaching small towns. Take Route 261 all the way from Progreso to Uxmal.
