Tour from boat or not?

Are you better off to take a tour from the boat or at the port? My friend just came back and said it was very organized and the cost was only$20 at the port. The bus holds about 25 people. Any feedback on this?

When I was in Tortola we did the open air bus tour. Just walk off the ship and beyond the security checkpoint and there will be lots of open air buses waiting.

They took us all around the island and up to the highest point which if I recall correctly was about 1400+ feet above sea level. The views were amazing!! There was also a couple of other stops for photos and then we went to Cane Garden Bay beach. It was a beautiful sandy beach with a bar and light snacks. The tour was about 2 1/2-3 hours.

We had a group of 10 people, and they wanted $20 but we settled on $17 each. We also tipped when the tour was over which pretty much brought it to $20.
