Texas Hold 'Em on Caribbean Princess questions

I did exhaustive research on these questions including calling Princess but still couldn't find any answers, despite the helpfulness of their customer service person, they just weren't familiar with what I was asking.

Maybe you guys can help.

1. Do they hold tournaments?

2. What are the stakes for the cash game?

3. Is it No limit or Limit hold em?

4. What rake do they take?

5. How active is the game?

If anyone knows the answers I'd be very grateful! :)

OK I'll try to answer.

1. Yes $30 for the first tourn. and $60 for the remainder

2. I believe it was 2 and 4 dollars however it may have been 1 and 2

3. No limit

4. Not sure but it is heavy. Make sure there are lots of people at the table before you play. Otherwise the money at the table does disappear to the "dealer"

5. Not very active on our cruise.

Hope this helps.

In the last two years I have been on two cruises that had a H.E. table. The first was on Celebrity out of Fort Lauderdale and the second was on Princess out of Los Angeles. They were very different experiences.

It has been a while so the following is my best recollection but my memory may be failing me so don't take any of the following as gosiple.

The celebrity cruise ran 2-3 tournaments a day with buy-ins of $50.00 and $100.00. 10 seats to a table and they paid three places (45%-30%-15% - 10% rake). I saw very few cash games but as I recall they were 5-10 limit. The games were very soft.

The Princess cruise ran No-Limit cash games and I did not see a single tournament the entire cruise (seven days). The quality of play was much tougher on the Princess cruise. I attribute that to the fact we sailed from L.A. and a number of the players spoke about playing the card rooms in california.

On the Princess cruise there was a game going most of the time we were at sea - usually had to wait for a seat.

Both cruises used the poker machine so there was no dealer. First time I have played on one of those. The rake was always 10% with no cap (a bit high but it is the only game in town).

I suspect the origin of the passengers has as much to do with the type of game being played as the actual cruise line. If you sailing out of Florida expect less action but it will be soft. If you are sailing out of California expect more action but tougher players.:o

On the last CB cruise, on sea days there were usually 2 tournaments a day: The first around 10:00AM with another to follow if there were enough players. There usaully were. There were 10 players per tournament. There were also a couple at night. The buy in was $60. for most of them with a final day one at $100. There was a sign up sheet for each tournament. It was usually put out the night before. I did hear the Casino director mention that there might be more tournaments on future cruises.

If that's true Princess really needs to fix whoever answers there phones.

I called and asked "Are there any tournaments?" and the lady was all "No. No tournaments anymore"

:x

I realize people who care a lot about poker is minuscule amount of their sales, but poker is really popular with young people! I hope all the lines take it more seriously in the future :P

you get that kind of stuff for every cruiselines. You can call and ask one question and get numerous responses depending on the person on the other end.

I have been on the Carribean Princess a few times.I only played the cash games and they were 1-2 no limit. Some decent players and some not so good. They do have tournaments, pretty much what was already stated. The electronic table is fine and easy once you play a few hands.100 minimum buy-in the first time you start. At the casino cage you give them $100 and they put it on your poker card. The table was going most of the time at night and at times there was a wait.

This cruise was out of Brooklyn down to the Carribean.
