Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. In early March, during our Getaway cruise, the Haven policy of one lobster tail per person was in place. My husband requested two (no turf) and was informed of the additional charge for the second. No big deal, I requested a lobster tail for myself. I stated that I would be giving it to my hubby. The waiter chuckled and brought out the extra lobster tail on his plate - no extra charge. 🙂
  2. Sharing our experience with this scenario (like you need more - lol) We experienced this situation twice – where we had booked Haven accommodations but our companions had not. We opted for the "Haven" rooms located outside the Haven area. During our time aboard the Escape, we booked a Haven aft cabin, and on the Gem, we booked the Haven Owner's suite. On both occasions, our cabin became a central hub for our group, with our non-Haven companions easily able to join us by simply knocking on our door. Our cabins served as home base, with the balconies proving to be popular gathering spots. Looking back, although we didn't fully utilize many of the exclusive Haven amenities onboard, we found great value in the spacious accommodations and the opportunity to host our friends and family, plus we could escape to the Haven when we needed a break. We wouldn't hesitate to book the Haven outside of the Haven area again. Perhaps this option could work for you as well.
  3. I usually prepare an envelope for each and then adjust based upon actual service. I also carry singles for individual drink tipping for when I want. Same as everyone else has said ... take this information as data ... you do what works best for you. Low Mid High Butler 100 200 300 Concierge 50 100 200 Room Steward 50 100 150 Porter ($5 per bag) 20 20 20 Hostess/Wait Staff (Haven)* (optional) 15 35 55 Bartenders (Haven) 15 35 55
  4. @cruiseny4life - During our getaway cruise in September 22', I remember being at the table next to you when your husband ordered the x+ amount shrimp (to see how many they would serve him) My hubby & I couldn't help but admire the delicious-looking plate of shrimp, and it made my husband request double shrimp cocktails instead of the regular portion. It's a delightful memory from our cruise. 🎉
  5. @webwise Just back from our cruise and booked Hike BVI (Sef) on your recommendation. Had a wonderful hike, thank you for sharing your experience. 😀
  6. We also just returned from the 1/14 sailing on the Escape. We had 12 cartons of water waiting for us, plus our latitude waters. Our friends also had their water waiting for them upon boarding. 🤷‍♀️
  7. I did a series of gifts, each with its own riddle to solve. The answer to each riddle was the name of a country. This culminated in scavenger hunt for the final gift. Each teen received a suitcase. Inside each suitcase was a small NCL toy ship and the details for our cruise. It was so much fun.
  8. @wants2fly - At 5'4" my feet hung off when lying vertically. YMMV 🙂
  9. This is the couch turned into a full size bed with two mattress toppers (you can see the indents beneath the sheets). We kept the bed down all week, which did make it a little tight in the room and prohibited the bathroom door from opening completely. Not the most comfortable bed in the world, but gets the job done. 🙂
  10. I'm also sailing on the Getaway, Sept 3rd out of NY and noticed the date was missing on the BTA site. I called Bermuda. The rep that I spoke with said to chose the date "closest" to your embarkation date; then CALL them back with your "app pending review number" to have the correct embarkation date applied to your application. Seemed like a lot of extra work for them, but 🤷‍♀️
