  1. Do people commonly use the proxy ballot as proof of ownership of 100 shares for cruises throughout the year? I didn't recall the ballot showing the number of shares, but I could be mistaken?

I have always used a recent broker statement (with personal info blocked out) showing number of shares and a relatively recent date (within a quarter). Is this overkill?

    Thanks!

  2. Here's the Seafood Shack's menu (with prices) directly from Carnival's page, in case anyone had trouble finding it: https://www.carnival.com/~/media/Images/explore/dining/menus/seafood-shack-menu.pdf (I hope a link to a CCL site isn't against the rules in a CCL forum?)

As for the PYOB (Pour Your Own Beer) dispensers, I tried one on the Vista -- it does take a little practice to avoid foam, but I suspect that's true of all taps...

  3. Has anyone been in this cabin? Last Lido cabin I was in was right by the elevators and I didn't really like it. I was wondering if this one was any better. I know there will still be noise being it is lido deck but it is further from elevators.

Not exactly, but we were in 9282 on Valor (sister ship). We liked the location, the only noise we heard inside the cabin was an intermittent water rushing noise during the day, which led us to realize the water slide was above us. Not really bothersome once you got used to it.

  4. You can only sign up at Red Frog Pub (cannot sign up at the Red Frog Bar by the pool).

If I remember correctly it was $16, included 4 pitchers of beer to share per table (1 pitcher per beer type).

On the Nov 16 sailing, they told us they had "upgraded" the tour.

It is now $24.95pp and in addition to the tour and samples, they added

a take-home "Red Frog Pub and Brewery" pint glass, a certificate, and a

free pint of your choice (can be used later in the cruise).

As for popularity, they did at least 2 tours on the day we did it, and

we noticed tours happening numerous other times when we happened

to walk past and see them. I think they can have 16 people in a tour.

Both the Brewmaster and the Assistant Brewmaster give tours.

  5. On Sunshine, I had a hard rootbeer. I don't recall the name, but it was served in cans.

We also had this on Valor. It wasn't available everywhere - we asked for it at the Atrium bar and they went and retrieved some from their storeroom.

  6. Some upgraded ships have USB outlets for charging electronics. Does anyone know if the Valor has them? Sailing next weekend and I have a plug-in adapter but it includes surge protector which I know is a no-no.

Also sailing on Sunshine next March... does it have the USB outlets?

I've been on Valor (recently) and Sunshine (two years ago) and my cabins didn't have USB ports on either. As someone else said, I think those are only on Vista currently.

  7. Sorry, I didn't add in that detail. I purchased outside insurance and was refunded the amount that Carnival kept out of my payment which was $835. I always cruise with insurance. I am only as stupid as I look.

I was curious about this. If I understood your post correctly, you weren't in the hospital near the time of the cruise, but rather some time earlier. But the use of your vacation time during the hospital visit is the actual reason you had to cancel the cruise. Is that right? If so, did your insurance give you a hard time about coverage? I wasn't sure if they would consider "no vacation time" as a valid reason. Did you have extra "cancel for any reason" or "cancel due to work" coverage?

  8. I had a booking with an $800 deposit (solo, long cruise). I had also applied a $500 gift card. When I cancelled at the first of the month, the credit card was credited within a couple of days. I'm still waiting for the gift card to be "recharged."

    (

In case it helps, in my experience with gift card refunds, Carnival has always issued a NEW physical gift card for the exact amount and sent it by snail mail. If this happens for you, hopefully they send it to you and not your TA (I always book direct so I don't know). Good luck!

  9. I just spoke to Carnival about this about an hour ago. As I had planned on doing the same. I was told they received a memo a month or so back saying the prepaid price would be honored if you were using Carnival gift cards.

We are recently off the Valor and bought Cheers onboard with (discounted) CCL Gift Cards and we paid the onboard (higher) price. I didn't know that I should have gone to Guest Services to ask for the lower price, so maybe that would have helped? If they are going to honor the lower price onboard for gift card purchases of Cheers, I wish they would do it for everyone - not just those who complain. Now I'm wishing I hadn't read this thread! :(

  10. Well after much thought.... We decided to squeeze all of us in 1 Balcony cabin on the Lido deck of Carnival Triumph. Yes I'm crazy!! Yes we may end up hating it but we are all so close as it is, I think we will be ok.

I think you'll be fine - we've done 5 in a balcony cabin on Victory twice (B2B). Sure, it is cozy, but the only time everyone is in the cabin at once is while sleeping anyhow! And the balcony really makes a difference for us. There are definitely more spacious ways to accommodate 5 with a balcony (suites, multiple cabins, etc), but they cost more and my family would rather save the $$ when possible and be able to cruise more often. Enjoy your cruise!!

  11. I don't know what to tell you. On my last 4 cruises including the Valor 2 weeks ago it worked fine for me and I always have multiple cards to enter. The swiping method usually dosnt work. You will have to enter the numbers on the back of the card manually.

Agree - swiping the gift cards usually doesn't work for me. I usually end up entering the numbers manually, but this is much easier than going to Guest Services. I've successfully entered gift cards using a kiosk on multiple ships this way. Good luck!

  12. We often sail as a family of 5, and have done several options:

    1) Deluxe OceanView rooms sleep 5, and have 2 showers/sinks plus a mini-tub. Available on Dream and Vista class ships (Dream, Magic, Breeze, Vista).

    2) On some ships you can get a cabin for 4 plus a "trundle" bed which is basically a rollaway bed. It's a bit crowded, but the bed is fine for kids and folds up during the day. We've done this on Carnival Victory, and it is available on some other ships as well (probably Triumph, maybe others).

    3) On some ships, there is no non-suite cabin that can hold 5, so we get two cabins (usually nearby balcony and interior cabins) and mom/dad split up and take turns in the balcony/interior cabins!

    4) Suites can often hold 5, although I've never done this, since getting two cabins is usually more cost effective.

    Hope this helps!

  13. Hello, New here. We are cruising out of NYC on the Carnival Sunshine and I am questioning why there is a delay on program when leaving from NYC?

[*]Guests sailing from New York and Galveston will not be able to activate the CHEERS! program until Day 2.

Because state liquor laws in NY and TX don't allow liquor "packages" such as Cheers, so they have to wait until the next day when they are outside the state law's jurisdiction. In other debarkation ports, you can start Cheers as soon as you board.

  14. In some cases it can depend on how "old" the phone is. I had trouble with the Hub app not working on older (several years old) Android phones. It worked perfectly on my "current" Android phone, but two phones with an older Android version gave an error about not being supported. So my advice is to try it out from home first to make sure the app works on the particular phone you want to use. Good luck!

  15. But they have a valid passport. It's valid for 4+ more months. They will be allowed to leave a country with that. Having less than 6 months may not allow them to enter certain countries, but the ones they're visiting on a closed loop cruise aren't included. Now if they had no passport, or an expired one, they would have an issue leaving. That's why I put the word "need" in quotation marks. Always best to be safe and have a passport. Which they do.

Technically, I'm not sure this is a "closed loop" cruise, since it leaves from NYC and returns to Miami. So passports may actually be required for this cruise?

Regardless, it doesn't change your point about being able to fly out of a port if necessary - passports will be valid for 4 additional months following the cruise, so flying out shouldn't be an issue.

  16. ... leads me to believe you need a passport if you do not return to NY

I realize you may be replying to other poster's discussion about passport cards, but as far as the original topic, I agree with you and we will have passports. My only question was about how long AFTER does the passport need to be valid for. Thanks for the reply!
