  1. thank you all so much for this valuable information. We do intend to use a TA but in my past experience the cruisers on cruise critic know more about cabin selection then TA's. I really value your input. One more question - are all balconies in midship cabins looking down on lifeboats and if so is this very distracting. Since it's supposed to be very scenic sailing thru the inside passage we'd like to have a nice view. Any other cabin number selections you can recommend will be very welcomed and appreciated.

  2. Hi - About 12 of us are having a cousins reunion and decided to do it on Jewel of the Seas Alaska inside passage cruise in July 2015. We are getting ready to book and since none of us have sailed RCL before we really need help in cabin selection.

We are all over 55. All of us have cruised before on various different lines. I pushed for RCL for this cruise so I sort of feel responsible. It seems to me the cabins on this ship are somewhat smaller than any I've experienced in the past.

Please explain the difference between E1,2,3 and D1,2. (what is better)

What I really want is a decent size quiet balcony room for 2 with an unobstructed view fairly close to an elevator

I thought deck 9 would be ideal but on some deck plan website they say most deck 9 balconies have partially obstructed views

    Is anyone familiar with 8088.

What would be a good cabin choice. Thank you so much.

  3. Do anybody have a copy of the kids dinner menu for Cucina Del Capitano they would like to share?

    Thanks

No there is no kids menu at La Cucina however they will make what you want within reason. We were a family of 12 on the Breeze with kids of different ages. We asked for pasta with butter for our 2 year old and something else not on the menu (sorry I don't remember what it was) for two ten year olds and they did it all. Our dinner there was wonderful and it is certainly worth the nominal extra charge. By the way they didn't even charge us for the 2 year old and any kid under 12 was only $5.

  4. Jamaica is a poverty stricken country. I wouldn't venture out alone anywhere in Jamaica. Also be careful about paying. Use cash. I used my credit card in a port store in Montego Bay in March to buy jerk chicken sauce and a rum cake.In June my credit card company called and inquired about suspicious charges. They were not mine and when investigated the charges were made at a resort in Jamaica and another on line. You would think a port store would at least be safe, but don't trust anyone in Jamaica if you don't want to regret it. Have a great trip.

  5. We did the Steakhouse on the Breeze in March. We were 7 adults. We were traveling with kids but didn't think the steakhouse was appropriate for them so we fed them earlier and they went to camp carnival while we went to dinner. On the first night of the cruise all 11 of us including kids ate in the Italian restaurant. For $12 a person ($5 for kids under 12) we had the most fabulous meal, wonderful service and great food so we had really high hopes for the Steakhouse. What a disappointment! No one in there cracked a smile the whole time we were there. The decor was somewhat depressing. The vibe was so negative it actually felt uncomfortable. Our waitress was downright rude. She spoke very low with her head down in her chin and had a heavy accent so it was hard to understand her. My daughter in law asked her about something on the menu and she said "I already told you about that-pay attention". As for the food the escargot was to die for. The crab cake was excellent also. But the steaks although cooked to perfection were like Outback - not the quality of a Ruth-Chris or other really good Steakhouse. I did not care for the desserts at all. All in all it was the only negative experience we had on the Breeze which was an awesome ship and the only money I resented paying.

  6. We were just off the Breeze. We had the proper papers with us but were never asked for them however one of our friends was asked by security in Cozumel, Mexico and another was asked a few months ago in Miami while disembarking. The security in Miami just questioned my grandchildren, asked them all their middle names and if my son was their father. He has sole custody of all of them but they never asked him for proof. I would not travel without the proper documents though-you never know when there's a high alert and they'll ask for them.

  7. For what it's worth we sailed on the Breeze 6 day to Montego Bay, Cayman Islands and Cozumel Mexico. Kids in So Florida where I live had their spring break the week of our cruise. I took my six grandchildren on this one that sailed 3/23/14 - 3/29/14. We were told there were 1500 kids on our sailing. You would never know it. It was a wonderful cruise. We were never annoyed by children running wild. Our kids had a blast and so did all the adults in our party. We thought they would attend Camp Canaveral but after they saw all the things to do on this ship they never went to the camp. The colleges had spring break the week before this so although there were some teens on this cruise no drinking age college kids. That's what might make the difference. Check your dates before you book. You can google school calendars on the internet. Make sure your not in the college break zone and you'll be fine. Enjoy your cruise.

  8. Hi Caza - We were on the same sailing - 11 in our family me (senior) my two sons their wives and my six grandchildren (19,14,12,11,10 & 2). We signed them up for camp but they never went either. The 2 yr old spent a few hrs there then she refused to go again. The 11 & 12 yr old boys did the rope course and played a round of miniature golf before we finished eating lunch. These kids had so much to do on this ship it was great. The ship is beautiful and sooo clean. I thought all the specialty food was amazing. The only disappointment was the MDR fare. Some good some okay some downright inedible. CMC was good. We only ate in the MDR 2 nights. Tried Capitano la Cucina (very good service & food), steakhouse - amazing food but the only negative vibe I got on the whole ship. We were all adults (no kids) and very respectful so there was no reason for our waitress to be downright nasty. None of the staff in there smiled. Everywhere else on the ship the staff was wonderful-really outstanding going out of their way to be helpful. Our cabin steward was a doll as was our MDR staff-it wasn't their fault the food quality was sub par. One night we ate in the Sushi bar - it was great. I don't eat BK or McD at all but I really loved Guy's Burgers (addictive) and they really piled on the fries without asking for more like I've read on here many times. Mongolian wok was good -fresh, the Indian place Tandoori was exceptional, blue iguana burrito's delish, deli sandwiches and room service very good. Red Frog pub was fun. Frosty drinks great - tried several but my favorite was a chocolate mocha that they made with Vodka and Kalua (not a mudslide but similar) It was sooo good. The piano bar was good although some found Ben to be a little annoying-to each his own. We had a blast at the Kareoke party. All the comedy shows were good (family & adult) Saw a few shows in Ovation. I know people on here hate them but I enjoyed them. The kids loved the Hasbro show and my son & wife won a bottle of champagne in an adult scavenger hunt type thing. Two of the boys won ships on a stick. I got a free drink card in the casino - they also sent me great cookies one night and chocolate strawberries another night to my cabin. On the last night they offered me a free cruise. I won in the casino - about $1500 over the six nights. The beautiful thing about the Breeze is there are plenty of places with action and plenty of places to relax totally isolated if you so choose. We had all balcony rooms and really enjoyed them especially in the morning pulling into ports and watching the sunrise. We also had FTTF and it was worth every penny. I had to go to Guest services when we first got on because there was a problem with my card - the regular line was wrapped around the ship whereas the FTTF line had 2 people in front of me. This alone made FTTF cost so worth it. If you can swing it get it- I don't think you'll be sorry.

Caza - I'm so sorry to sort of highjack your thread - I tried to make one of my own but I'm a 101 computer dummy and don't really know how to navigate in here. Did you do anything in the ports - we ziplined in Jamaica-rented a cabana at Royal Palms in the Cayman Islands and went to Paradise Beach in Cozumel. So glad you enjoyed your cruise. We loved it too. I also will answer any questions anyone has. The Breeze is an amazing ship.

  9. After spending days reading your awesome review I feel like I know you and your beautiful family - that is why I am so happy for Tracey. I hope your move works out great for the whole family. I am taking my two sons their wives and my six grandkids ranging in age 2yrs - 19 yrs old for a six day spring break cruise on the Breeze in March. Our itinerary is Montego Bay, Cayman Islands and Cozumel, Mexico. I have a question about the food on the Breeze. I may have missed something but as far as I saw you did not eat in the MDR ever in the 8 days. Was there a reason for this? I'm concerned because we are not a fast food family and are used to eating good food and if their is something wrong with the MDR food that would be very disappointing. I've booked the Steakhouse for one night for the adults but since we are 11 people and I'm paying for everything I don't want to have to eat in specialty places every night. Your pictures were amazing. Also is the food at La Cucina worth the extra. I've read such mixed reviews about it. Thanks so much for your input. We are so excited and can't wait till March.
