I think your review is very fair and reasonable.
We will be on the Splendor in Feb. Good service, no responsibilities, and warmer weather are our main goals for this trip.
The 8 days, bed and board included, will cost us less than just the airfare to the Bahamas would, and we just can't swing anything more expensive this year.
Cheap trip or not, we'll still be dressing for dinner.

I think the loud noise when docking depends on where you are fore-to-aft as well -- I definitely heard and felt it on the Empress deck my last cruise!!

I wish Splendor was switching before my Feb cruise.
I like the new menus.
(Edited because I hit send by accident.)

I would switch. I have been on the Empress deck in an inside cabin and a very low (one of bottom 3, can't remember) in an ocean view. (Never been in a porthole.)
I would definitely take the big window over the higher deck.

Changes are always due to cost cutting measures, so don't be too quick to jump on the bandwagon.
Mmmm..I'd say that in most successful businesses, changes are often an attempt to increase long-term profit margins, but that doesn't always = cost cutting.

I sailed Glory out if NYC this summer. They DID have FTTF.
Also it was available for my upcoming Splendor cruise this winter.
For what it's worth, we did not do FTTF this summer. We arrived at port at 10 and were on the ship no more than 3 minutes after those with FTTF. I had to speak with customer service a couple if times. I didn't have to wait for more than a minute or two.
Our bags were delivered to our room before dinner, and I used a Zuca to tote our soft drinks, so really, I am glad I saved the $50 for other splurges!

I'm sure this has been covered somewhere, but I couldn't find it.
Planning to do 2 nights in the steakhouse, plus Chef's table, and I need to figure out which nights to reserve!
Thanks!

Oh, and we pretty much just stay away from the buffet.
