  1. I was looking into taking a cruise out of Texas however what I have read on CC has left me with the impression that it is challenging to say the least. I wanted a place close so I wouldn't have to pay so much in air fare. Heck our cruise coming up in Port Everglades (7 nights) is just 20% more than our plane tickets and hotel room for one night. That's why I was looking @ Texas as a possibility. Embarking out of LA was nice and air fare was reasonable.

I do hope that the passengers are able to get on with the cruise and have a great time. Wishing them the best... :)

Don't rule out Texas. We have sailed several times out of Galveton with no problems. This spill thankfully is very unusual. There doesn't seem to be the issues going out of Galveston. Bayport is a well organized terminal with very helpful employees, but weather and now this is discouraging. It is a shame that this may hurt the success of this port.

  2. The interned minutes are great. We never use our minutes up as we both get the 150.

We haven't gone to the appetizer / drink hour for platinum/ elite. We might have to check it out. Do they allow guests? We have another person traveling with us that isn't plat

  3. I would indeed sail out of Houston or Galveston, but It is due solely to conveniemce. I agree that Houston needs to change up their itinerary a bit to include some alternating ports. I think Houston bay port is a much nicer and smoothly functioning terminal as far as embarking and debarking but there is nothing to do around the terminal.

  4. We were also on the cruise. We enjoyed the ship and getting away. However, we found the CD to be rushed and too dry for our taste. He rushed through the Marriage Game, constantly looking at his watch and said several times he had to hurry to get to the late show. He was at a lot of events, but again, seemed rushed. I would have rather had him assign hosting to another crew member than to rush a fun show. His staff were very good and capable. I thought the entertainment was lacking. The magic show and juggler were ok. The comedian was funny but we have seen him on RCCL before....same routine. There wasn't much to do at night.

The food was good. We took all dinners in the Anytime Dining Room and most other meals at HC. We found the waitstaff to be ok, not great. The waitstaff have been excellent on our past cruises. I wondered if they were at the end of their contracts and ready for a break. I think we will go back to Early Dining on our next cruise. Our cabin steward was awesome!!

One thing we noticed this time is that the crew took smoke breaks on the promenade deck. I had never seen that in 12 prior cruises.

We enjoyed the Magical Beach lift in Roatan.

  5. We cruised in 2009 the first week of June. Weather was perfect. We cruised last sept and it poured everyday. It didn't stop us. We doned our rain ponchos and carried an umbrella and went about our tours. This year we are opting for the last week of May. Hoping for nice weather but it has been pretty cold in Seattle and AK. I think it is a toss of the coin. We will layer clothing and plan or cold or warm.

  6. I am really happy to read all of these great reviews about David Cole. I just read that he will be the CD on our Ak cruise on May 26. We are sailing with 3 other couples that will be taking a cruise for the first time.
