  1. We are on the same cruise in AQ1. Our price actually increased $50 pp and we have the All In promotion which we would lose if we tried to change :-(. When we booked it was only an additional $20 pp to upgrade to AQ1, now it's $100 pp so the new promotion only applies to the lower category. Even though I think we got a GREAT deal by booking early, I keep monitoring to see if something better comes along. But it would have to be a rather large price drop to warrant giving up some of our perks.

  2. Are the specialty dining restaurants in higher demand because of the Christmas holiday? My husband will be celebrating his 50th on Christmas Eve and I wanted a special dinner. But we have a lot of OBC to spend and I did not want to pay for the dinner beforehand out of pocket.

Also, we will be on the Constellation. Which is better, Tuscan or Oceanliners?

  3. I was surprised that after all I had read they would not change to non-connecting. However, I also do like the location of these cabins so I am not too broken up. Yes, they are in the newer section so I imagine it will be a lot quieter with not as much foot traffic. It could have been a lot worse :D.

  4. Just booked 3 OV guarantees for a holiday cruise and the cabins were assigned within a day. There are plenty of cabins available. While I am not unhappy with the cabin locations, I don't like that they are all 1/2 of connecting cabins and none of them connect to each other.

My travel agent contacted Celebrity and was told that since we booked GTY and actually got assigned a category 6 (yes I am very aware that this category would have cost me $600 more per cabin) that are in very close proximity to each other, we should be grateful. I was not asking for an upgrade, just to be moved down to a few cabins that do not connect. There are plenty of cabins available. Maybe I will ask him to try again at a later date.

  5. Just wanted to give a HUGE thank you shout out to all who post such helpful info on the Celebrity forum.

I booked a holiday cruise less than 2 days ago through my travel agent. Checked the fares this morning and the price had dropped. I was a little bummed. I thought I had no options (its after final payment which was yesterday!). Then I searched the threads and found the info on the best price guarantee to guide me (and my agent) in the right direction. I got an extra $300 in OBC thanks to the info provided here.

Interestingly, the Celebrity customer service told my agent it was a 24 hour (not 48 hour) window to request the guarantee. Also per their website it should have been and additional $330 (110%). At this point I don't care about the extra 10%.

It definitely pays to be informed.

  6. Enjoying you review. We sailed on the Sunshine this past spring break and had a wonderful time. I wanted to book the Curacao itinerary for my daughter's birthday next year but unfortunately, I don't have unlimited free time :-(. maybe in 2017, but she wants to go on the Vista.

I did enjoy the Sunshine but the one thing I missed was being able to eat breakfast outside (without having to bring it to the Lido deck).

I felt like the Havana Bar/JiJi/Cucina area was a secret only I knew about! It was hardly ever crowded!

I also loved Ocean Plaza/Alchemy Bar area and the 80's cover band they had playing. My husband and I are not night owls but we stayed up for them. It was like date night since the girls stayed in the cabin! (they don't like the 80's).

Keep it coming, your review is bringing back great memories!

  7. Glad to see another of your reviews. I first read one before we sailed on the Fascination last year August! It was a huge source of info for us having never sailed out of Jaxport. Would not have missed sailing under the bridge.

I see you have an upcoming Sunshine cruise next year. I look forward to hearing your opinion.

We don't have a Carnival cruise scheduled for next year but my teen daughter wants to sail on the Breeze. I will definitely be sharing your review with her!

  8. Is the Fascination still sailing out of Jaxport? If she is, then be sure to be on the Sport Deck at sailaway. It was awesome sailing under the bridge and wondering if we were going to make it!

We have sailed Fantasy class ships twice and then our last cruise being on the refurbished Sunshine. I preferred the Fantasy class ships over Sunshine.

  9. I was so happy to read this post! We just booked our first Celebrity cruise (have only sailed Carnival). We will be sailing on the Constellation for Spring Break 2016 and I was very worried that my girls (will be ages 15 and 16) would be bored from the lack of activities.

I booked us Aqua Class cabins on deck 11, side by side cabins (I am a worrier, I need them close by). I pitched it as a pampering cruise since we will have access to the Persian Gardens. I am very much looking forward to rest and relaxation as opposed to the hustle and bustle of Carnival.
